WISH
Interactive Light Exhibition
15 December 2018 - 06 January 2019
Museum Romeinse Katakomben, Valkenburg, The Netherlands
Curated by Maureen Bachaus
Museum Romeinse Katakomben will soon be the setting for the WISH light exhibition. It is the third edition of this breathtakingly beautiful event, which will take place in the mystical underground passages of the museum. Objects by international contemporary light artists are on display. The exhibition theme 'WISH' refers to an old custom, namely the transmission of personal messages and wishes through light. In ancient Rome, people gave each other "New Year's lamps" as gifts. Beautiful terracotta lamps on which personal wishes were applied. Museum Romeinse Katakomben translates this special tradition into the present by organizing a light exhibition around the turn of the year. Visitors are challenged to participate: they can leave a wish. Museum Romeinse Katakomben will eventually fulfill one of these wishes.
