Lightscapes
Infinite Equilibrium
19 February - 5 September 2020
Galería Blanca Soto Arte, Madrid, Spain
Curated by Cascione & Lusciov
BLANCA SOTO ARTE Gallery is pleased to present "Lightscapes: Infinite Equilibrium", an exhibition of new work by artist collective Cascione & Lusciov, in concomitance with ARCO Fair.
The exhibition creates a landscape of light and sound in which the new sculptural works and immersive light-based installations are displayed that stage environmental compositions, where the elements that characterize the works – such as light, sound, space and time – generate the dynamic interplay of light and space, of form and sensory perception, of perspective and illusion in a futuristic setting.
The works are introduced by the sound-controlled pulsing of the audio-visual sculptural installation "Blue Large-Amplitude Pulsator Star" (2018) that mixes sculpture, light, sound and sensorial experience in total darkness. It continues with the site-specific light installation that bridges sculptural works in a liquid and blinding tunnel of light creating the strong sensation of forward propulsion towards an unknown and abstract future. With these visually hypnotic, spatial illuminations, the artists transform the space into an emotional play between light and darkness.
Heavily influenced by the concepts emerging from movements such as Light & Space, Geometric Abstraction, Minimalism and Neo-Futurism, Cascione & Lusciov appropriate techniques from sculpture, design, and goldsmithing within their practice. The two artists believe in the evolution and rapid technological advancement with the help of arts, science and technology. In that sense, their art is a vision of the future. Their work is stripped of all unnecessary elements and is given a pure shape.
In their artistic research, the duo focus on the basic concept of an object in motion, bringing it into the present through a futuristic element to the series: dimensional travel, space, time, and the form of light as it traverses the universe.
Silvia Cascione and Roman Lusciov work mainly on conceptual sculpture and installation utilizing materials such as bronze, steel, acrylic and lights. Each work is made entirely by hand and uniquely characterized by clean aerodynamic lines, emphasized through the fluid, liquid state appearance and highly reflective, metallic surfaces paired with organic and biomorphic forms result in sculptures loaded with emotion and dynamism.
